According to the American Massage Therapy Association, about 25 % of American adults had a massage at least once during 2016-2017. People have a wide range of reasons for doing so. More and more people are recognizing the health benefits of massage. People can choose from many different massage styles to get relief from symptoms or to heal injuries, to help with certain health conditions, and to promote overall wellness.

Seven Signs you need a massage

  • You haven’t had a massage for months, or even years.  Massage works best when it is received on a regular basis. Many massage therapists recommend receiving a massage at least once a month for maintenance. Massage is needed more often if you have an injury you are working to rehabilitate.

  • You are in training: Summer in Hutchinson, MN ( where you currently choose to call home) can mean marathons, biking, hiking, kayaking, water skiing, and anything else you can squeeze into these 5 months of good weather. When you challenge your body physically,  you should be treating your muscles to massage therapy. A good Massage Therapist can help keep you active and injury free.

  • You have a pain in the neck or back, or shoulder, or hip… Pain is your body’s way of communicating to you that something is wrong. The busier we get, the more we tend to ignore our body’s signals. You don’t want to ignore your pain or your injury could get worse. Make an appointment with your Massage Therapist and they can help relieve your pain and set you on a course to better health.

  • You’ve been getting headaches a lot lately.  When the muscles around your neck, shoulders, and back get tight, tension headaches can begin. Regular massage can relieve these tension headaches and help promote healthy posture. Massage therapy has been shown to provide relief for migraine sufferers as well.

  • You no longer have full range of motion. Maybe you’re unable to turn your head/neck as far as you once could. Maybe you can’t lift your arm all the way up. Maybe you haven’t been able to touch your toes for a while.  Maybe you’re not sleeping as well as you like because your body can’t get comfortable. Whatever your case may be, if you have muscular restrictions, massage therapy may be able to help.

  • You’re not getting a restful sleep: It is amazing how many of my massage clients answer that they sleep ‘poorly’ on the intake form. Sleep so is under rated! We recover and heal faster when we get a good nights rest. Massage therapy helps promote healthy sleep habits through by promoting relaxation.  An hour massage relates to 7-8 hours of sleep.

  • You are stressed out.  We all have more stress in our lives than what is healthy. One of the best ways to decrease levels of stress hormones and increase levels of endorphins is to get a massage. Massage therapy starts working immediately to help you relax.

Massage Therapy = less pain, more function, better sleep, and less stress and anxiety.

Massage creates a new norm in the body, a Relaxed feeling, and less stress.  Your massage consistency dictates how often you like your new norm.

Whether it is me you call or someone else to schedule your massage.  Schedule it today and you will be happy that you did.
